Do you know 1m = 100cm
and 1m = 10^3 mm = 10^9 nm?
thus 1cm = 10^7 nm
square both sides, we get: 1cm^2 = 10^14 nm^2.
That is the result you want.

1 nm = 1 * 10^-9 m so 1 nm^2 = (1 * 10^-9)^2 m = 1*10^-18m^2
1 cm = 1 ^ 10^-2 m so 1 cm^2 = (1 * 10^-2)^2 m = 1* 10^-4 m^2

Invert the above to isolate 1m^2 in each expression:
1m^2 = 1*10^18 nm^2 and 1m^2 = 1*10^4 cm^2

Then set 1m^2= 1m^2 and substitute:
1*10^18 nm^2 = 1*10^4 cm^2

Divide both sides by 10^4:
1*10^14 nm^2 = 1 cm^2
