Best team ever was the 85 bears and now I would have to say the Colts look great.

The 1984 49ers were 18-1, that's pretty damn close to undefeated, and their only loss came by 3 points and a bad call.
The 1989 49ers were 17-2 and their playoffs looked like this-
41-13 over the Vikings
30-3 over the Rams
55-10 over the Broncos in the super bowl. That's 126 to 26, that's what I call domination.
The '85 Bears had the best defense ever and the '79 Dolphins were the only team to go undefeated in a season.
Out of these teams I'd go with the '89 49ers. Sure the other teams won, but not a decisively as that. When I think of football perfection I'm reminded of 55-10, the biggest blowout in Super Bowl history.

I think its fallacious to judge based soley on record. Under that thikning Boise St. was the best college team last year. Look at talent, look at matchups. Its also foolish to think that if you made a league of the 32 greatest single season teams to think that one squad would go anywhere near 13-3 even. Personally I think if you took the greatest teams ever had them play 100 seasons and playoffs to match the team that would win the most titles would be the 78 Steelers, but even that would be only maybe 12 times. If you want my reasoning you can ask, but I doubt youve even cared to read this far.

The 60's Packers - 5 championships in 7 years and a boatload of Hall of Famers - Starr, Kramer, Nitzchkie, Taylor, Adderley and on and on. Nobody has matched 5 in 7 years.
The Steelers of the 70's would be next with 4 in 6 years and a bunch of HOF'ers.

the year the Miami Dolphins went undefeated. Got to be the Dolphins.
Nobody has gone undefeated since then.
