If his name is Alexander James, to call him Jamey/Jamie? I prefer the first spelling. Alexander is such a big name for a little baby and Alex sounds like an old guy. (was my grandfather's name). James Alexander has initals that spell a word with our last name.

I really like Jamey too. Alexander James and having him go by Jamey would be fine I think.

Another alternative is James Xander. I'm sure that doesn't spell a word with your last name!

I've known a number of boys/men with the name or nickname Jamey or Jamie. It's a fine name. I'd put James as the first name, though. I read once that kids with initials that spell a word tend to be brighter, though I don't know why that would be. I wouldn't worry about it unless the word was embarrassing or a slur or something.

I, personally, don't care for Jamey but do like Jamie. I like Jimmy too.

Short versions of Alexander include:
Alex
Alec
Lexi (maybe a bit girly for some)
Sandy (I know two men named Alexander who go by Sandy)
Sander
Xander (said Zander).

My brothers name is Jamie and I think it's a cute name. If you name him Alexander James his nickname could be A.J.
Alexander is a very popular name. Another nickname for Alexander could be Zander. My daughters name is Alexandra, but everybody calls her Alex.

The whole name is great, its very strong, and he wont be teased in school, however, if he starts going by jamey, then he may have a problem, if you intend for that to only be a family name then all is well, but he will be miserable if he goes through high middle and high schoolw ith jamey. please i beg of you.. dont oo and all those cute lil key chains, and pencils and personalized pre-mad pens you may want to buy him as a mom, that wont work either take it from someone who has an oddly spelled name :)

I am sorry but Jamey is a girls name. I think that you are doing the right thing by asking, too many people name thier kids names that they will later get made fun of in school without even blinking.

I love the combination of the names you have chosen. They are very strong and masculine. Jamey or Jamie is fine either way.

Yes, it is fine.
However the second spelling is more masculine--if that concerns you, go with Jamie. Otherwise, Jamey is fine.

I like it, good luck!

Sure you could nickname him Jamie but don be surprised when he gets older and no longer likes it and wants to be known by Alex or Alec
