Physics problem HELP?

Question

A person jogs eight complete laps around a quarter-mile track in a total time of 12.5min. Calculate the average speed and the average velocity in m/s?

Speed / velocity/ acceleration/ distance/ displacement
are confusing me soooooooooo much!

Average speed = =distance/time = 8*(1/4 miles)/(12.5 min) = 9.6 mph

velocity also takes into account the direction of the motion. His average velocity is zero since he ends up going one way for half a lap and the opposite way for the other 1/2 lap.
