A lot of people like to wait until they are 3 months and they are out of the woods so to speak. Personally I started buying stuff a year before I got pregnant!!

Anytime you want to buy baby things, go ahead! Just be realistic (in case something happens) and try not to buy gender based items (pink-blue) unless you are sure of the sex. If you do, keep receipts and tags on so you can return them.
Lay-buying the big ticket items now is a great idea as you can pay them off over the next few months. From now on I used to buy 1-2 small things a week like wipes, nappies, lotions, powder when I did my grocery shopping and when I saw something on special I would grab it and put it away. By the time baby is born you have everything you need for the first few months and it doens't seem like you have spent such a lot of money at once.
Make sure you haggle with the baby store staff when buying prams, cots, change tables etc... and research before you buy as you may find something better or cheaper later on and regret doing it so early.
Toys'r'us have the best bargains and quality goods so have a look in there and ask people (for baby shower) for things like toys and learning stuff as you never seem to get given these things even though you will need them soon enough!

~best of luck~

My family always told me not to buy a thing until after my first trimester (because it was a jinx or something). I started buying stuff for him when i found out he was a him! my sister on the other hand had a baby tub full of stuff for me the day i took my test, and was at the store the day i found out he was a boy, and brought me a box of boy stuff. lol I registered shortly after i found out the sex, so my family could start shopping too. Dont buy too much stuff though, you should save some things for her/his baby shower!!!! a good idea is to buy diapers starting with newborn (maybe one or 2 packs because they dont last long in these) a week, with your weekly shopping trip, and then start with size 1 and then two etc every few weeks. this will save you money when you actually have the baby. My son was in size 2 diapers for maybe 2 or 3 months, which gives you an idea on how many packs of each to buy.
also, dont buy any formula until baby is here because it expires, and you never know what the baby will need.
GOOD LUCK!!!!

As early as you want but I think waiting at least until you hit your 2nd trimester is best becuase the risk of miscarriage goes down a lot. I would say around register around 20wks and start buying your own stuff around 20-26wks. I definately wanted to wait until I knew what I was having to start buying. You'll probably buy little by little so the earlier you start the better. If you register early you won't have to worry as much about people waiting until you're nearly due to buy you something. I registered when I was 24wks and am now 36wks and have had 2 out of 10 ppl buy for me that said that they were going to. That was 3 months ago and I only have 4 more weeks. By the time you hit your 32nd week you'll be starting to get a little frantic about what you don't have yet and will probably want nearly everything (if not completely everything) ready even if it's not arranged and set up yet. You'll want to do research before you go out and start buying stuff or start making a list. You'll want to find out what you really need and compare prices. I know my hubby and I were kind of excited when it came to clothes and bought a couple things (shorts and warm weather stuff) that were really cute in size 0-3Mos and didn't realize until we sat down and really thought of what we would need and when, that it'll be winter time and shorts won't be useful! Make a list- you'll really see what you are going to need money wise.

whenever you feel like it! today even...forget those who say wait til youre at least 12 weeks, risk of miscarriage etc. etc. you will have a happy healthy pregnancy, repeat this mantra, take great care of yourself and GO SHOPPING!! its so much fun, I still do it weekly and im 38 weeks along now. you wont believe how FAST the time flies...im starting to get a little sad that this pregnancy will end, though the end result is well worth it. but honestly, shop when you want! what will be, will be. you cant control that, but you can control how much you enjoy this time youre pregnant! congratulations !!

Right away. Why not start as soon as you want? The very weekend I found out I was pregnant I went out and bought a pair of little pajamas...the kind that looks like a dress with elastic around the bottom and the cuffs that go over his/her hands. They are awesome for middle of the night changings! :)

buy it whenever you want!! people will tell you that it is bad luck to buy stuff early but my goodness it is your baby and if you see something you want go get it!! Pregnancy is an exciting time and buying stuff for the baby is so much fun.

Wait if someone is planning a shower for you. If no shower buy somethings along the way here and there. It will help with budgeting. This will also help you cope with the "nesting" phase.

Well it depends. You can buy the onesies, pjs, sock because they are mostly unisex. If you want to buy other things, I would wait until you can determine the sex of your child (if you want to know that) and purchase clothing for the next season. Good luck to you.

I waited until I knew the sex of my child to purchase and register for stuff.
