when your abdominal muscles split. or do they sometimes not split at all. ive gained about 10 lbs so i guess im average size... also, is it painful when the muscles do split? thanks!

Nope, it doesn't hurt. Sometimes I've moved certain ways and it felt a little like a teeny electrical shock, but i'm not sure if that was just nerve stuff or the actual pulling apart of muscles. It happens so gradually you don't really feel it.

Wow Sarah, you are the first person I have heard talk about the electric shock thing. I always wondered what that was. LOL I use to wake up feeling like someone poked me with a cattle prod when I turned over. Was a weird feeling. Nice to know I'm not weird though being that everyone looked at me with a worried look when I described that exact feeling. I thought I would be birthing an electric eel.

they always split, the baby has to go somewhere!!! But it does not hurt, its a gradual seperation and your body is designed to do it. It has nothing to do with your weight gain, but with the development of the baby and its growth. Good luck
