Madame Bovary by Gustave Flaubert. If you read a good translation, the prose is almost poetic in places. And it's about a woman who you might view as a real heroine, like Scarlett O'Hara, full of passion and a refusal to live an ordinary life -- or you may see her as someone eaten up with self-centered social climbing, keep-up-with-the-Jonses type behavior and how destructive it is to the others in her life, including her own soul. Like people you may know, either way. It's one of the few books I can read again and again and still get something new from each time.

Mostly written by Sydney Sheldon. I like the plot twists on the story. I just can't figure it out until I finish the book. Unfortunately, just a couple of months ago, the writer is gone forever. A big lost for me.

Ecclesiastes is my favorite book
written by King Solomon
It is a wealth of information for the common man
I especially love the version translated by theTindale House" New Living translation"
Ecclesiastes 12:1
Don't let the excitement of youth cause you to forget your Creator. Honor him in your youth before you grow old and say, "Life is not pleasant anymore."
Listen up: I know it may sound dumb to endorse a BIBLE but hay you ask me and I responded. It is a beautifully translated version. You can actually understand it AND you can follow a storyline. What's not to love?

"A Book Dragon" by Don Kushner; held in very high esteem because though it's a slim book it packs a mighty punch, mixing the tale of a dragon and his family, and even why dragons exist, with true life historical events--and mixing them so seamlessly they just make a great yarn!
It's a jewel, I'll say that over and over again.

Ender's Game by Orson Scott Card. Even though this is a "science-fiction" book, it was highly recommended to me by someone who hates science-fiction. I thoroughly enjoyed it and the rest of the series.
