I am a child of the 80's and to this day, a lover of the music. Duran Duran, Bryan Adams, Men at Work, Bon Jovi (Wanted Dead or Alive!), Pat Benetar, REM, Billy Idol, just to scratch the surface but I was amazed to see how many of the 80’s musicians were dead! OK, I knew about Robert Palmer but, Michael Hutchence from the group INXS?!?! Stuart Adamson the lead singer from that group Big Country (In a Big Country), The drummer from Toto, Falco, (not “Rock me Amadeus!”), Dan Hartman, Patty Donahue of The Waitresses (I Know What Boys Like!) Laura Branigan! Please don’t tell me there are more - I cry easily :)

Eric Carr from Kiss died of Cancer.

Robin Crosby from Ratt also passed away.

I think Blas Elias (Slaughter's Drummer) is deceased.

Kip Winger's wife died...

We all know about the Great White tragedy...

You know, it's amazing. The decade of AIDS, constant partying and heavy drug use...actually the deceased isn't all that bad...

The Patty Donahue one was way under the radar at the time (and still is). Really tragic too, lung cancer at 40! However, I cannot believe you hadn't heard about Michael Hutchence, that was headline news at the time. Don't cry, we still got the most important ones from your list, Duran Duran and Billy Idol.

Dan Hartman began his days in the spotlight as bassist/songwriter and vocalist with The Edgar Winter Group, on their first release in 1972, "They Only Come Out At Night". I saw the band before the first album was released, and Ronnie Montrose was the guitarist! Amazing.

Hartman wrote and sang "Free Ride". Edgar sings harmony and adds some screams. Dan Hartman was also a very talented producer and could write and sing in any style.

I can't really think of any others. But it's so sad thinking about how many good artists of that era died- most of them were so young too! I was shocked when I heard about Michael Hutchence and Laura Branigan. I often wonder who's next? :(
