It depends on how you look at it. If your talking about God and the 12 discliples and Jesus and repent or you shall burn it hell, yes, it is. It's stupid that we're born sinners just because of Adam and Eve. But I do believe there's something higher and more powerful than we are. Yes, myabe the world did form from a pin point of extremely dense matter, but by itself? Nah. Just because you see it doesn't mean it's there, and just because you don't see it doesn't mean it isn't there. And what about other things that are unexplained? What about miracles, and hope? What about love? Those thing didn't come from a pin point of matter.

Wow. I'm considering right now starting an insurance company that will sell a policy that protects against rampaging bands of Christians. However, I'd have to have other policies in place to deal with Muslims, Sieks, Hindus, Buddhists (although I love the smell of bacon in the morning).
God is not a bad idea, and I personally believe that he (or she) does exist. This whole earth thing didn't just happen. Nobody knows what is really out there, except God, and the multitudes of people that have already passed. So think all you want, and if you want God to be just an absurd thought at this time in your life, then have at it.

In our wonderful quest for knowledge, we have a difficult time accepting that some things will not be known. Perhaps god created us, but then we created god to explain the unexplainable. In my opinion, "god" is the wrap around answer to all questions that will never have an answer. Absurd? No, it is not absurd.

I personaly do not believe in the god concept but I do recognize that most religions do have an order about them with regards to standards with which to live by. If a person finds the truth they are looking for in a church, cathedral, mosque, or synogogue then thats where they need to be. I don't find truth in life at a place of religion but that doesn't mean that I find those that do absurd. I find the truth in my life in not judging others who may be different in their belief system.

You can tell a child anything. And generally, they'll believe it.
Corrupting the minds of children has been around since recorded time.
It's understandable though given the history of punishments that 'heretics' and non-believers received.

It is pretty strange to that people believe that all of existence was created by a divine being.

Which god are you talking about here? If it were the Judeo-Christian one, then I would say absolutely.
