We've been working on the INTERNATIONAL space station for a while now.
It couldn't exist if other countries where not participating.

Its not the cold war anymore, and the majority of countries agree to work together for the most part.

Go China!!!!!

I think the common American really doesn't know much about international space politics,

but I believe almost ALL astronomy fans support China and their efforts.

I've heard they've got some really cheap and effective technologies for a lunar base on the way.

As an American, I think China's entry into space flight is great. China has the talent, technology, and now even the money to venture into space. Most future space efforts will require international co-operation and China has much to contribute.
On the other hand, I can't speak for most Americans because this is something Americans rarely think or talk about and they probably think all Chinese rockets are lit with a fuse.

Space is one of the areas where the more players the better. The USA found that out when some of the original participants in the "international space station" pulled out, and we got stuck with what was left of their share after the project was scaled back as far as it could be. I for one would be pleased to see another socilaist country with a space program. The former Soviet Union accomplished incredible feats with limited technology, based on the practicality of their approach. It gave me great ideas for how I would do things if we ever become established in space. Since Mercury our program has become progressively less practical to the point where without the Russian launch capability the ISS could not be maintained.

How does the common American feel about buying all those different things everyday with the Made in China label on them? And, not Taiwan either, but mainland People's China. The answer: who cares.
If you're REALLy that concerned with China having a space program, do not ever buy any item made in China again. Something tells me you're not THAT concerned are you?

"American Exceptionalism" quantities to placing a low time-honored, and then being proud that the US has met that time-honored. Obama has set a greater robust time-honored, and as a effect probable does not even have confidence in American Exceptionalism, or Nationalism. Entitlements truly signify a slowing of wealth redistribution - which interior the US is from the poorest ninety% to the richest 10%. without this slowing of wealth distribution (that progressive taxes and entitlements gain) this united states might strengthen weaker and poorer - because of the fact the wealthy will take their income and make investments or spend area of it foreign places. I do agree that having a defined venture - individuals on Mars via a undeniable year - could be large for the US. finally, there are cadres of nicely-knowledgeable Russians and Iranians in those international locations. the US education equipment isn't working nicely adequate. as an occasion, an alarmingly intense proportion of people are technological information illiterates. Many individuals don't comprehend organic determination, worldwide warming, or perhaps straight forward technological information. possibly if we took politics and faith out of technological information, and extremely used technological information to tell education and government, shall we start to artwork in direction of American Exceptionalism as a actuality, no longer a delusion.

I think it's fine that China has begun to send manned flights into space. I believe they will eventually join with the U.S., Russia, Japan, and Europe for a manned trip to Mars. Because of the scale of this mission it will certainly require and international effort.

I think it would be awesome if space flight developments in China sparked another space race that would FINALLY get us started on a manned mission to Mars. But that's just me.
