I own a 2001 yamaha riva razz 50cc moped. Right now my blinkers are not functioning properly. They flicker extremely fast and when i am not moving they remain a constant light. I checked the fuse to see if it was blown but it was still ok. I dont know what else could cause this problem. Please help

P.S.

Any mods, tweaks, hacks, tips, etc about this or mopeds in general would be greatly appreciated

One of them is burned out, or you fixed one and it is the wrong bulb!

it should have #1156 bulbs in it for blinkers!

After that, replace the flasher, I bought a $2.99 one from NAPA auto parts when the blinker in my Yamaha RIVA 180 started doing the exact same thing as yours! Fixed it just fine.

The front lights are running lights and are always on, when the key is on.
Have the bulbs been changed recently?
The wrong voltage will cause the fast blinking (mis-matched 12 & 6 volt).
The flasher relay may need to be replaced.
Check for a weak battery.
When idling - the battery may not be strong enough to activate the flasher.
When reving - the battery may be asking for additional voltage from the charging system and diverting it to the flasher.

sounds like the switch is busted. not the switch to turn on your turn-signals, but the electric switch that oscillates the on/off pattern. also check your bulbs, often times one will go out and cause the problem as well.

the electric switch is NORMALLY (not always) in your fuse box, or close by. it looks like a round cylinder with three prongs on the back (similar to the round thing in the fuse box on your car)

some mopeds/bikes/cars have two switches, others only have one. I don't know mopeds that well, but every car I have worked on had one in the fuse/relay box, and my EX250 only has one, so I am unsure of yours. but the basic principal applies.

hope this helps-even though I am fishing...

I would wager your machine has a 6 volt system. 6 volts systems are famous for poorly functioning directionals. Start with the battery, check it for fluid level and charge status. Its probably the original battery and after 6 years it is due to be replaced anyway. If there is any question about it replace it, thats probably your problem (even if its a 12 volt).

Either the flasher relay or a pinched wire. I would get a new flasher first.
