The are two asteroid belts. One is between Mars and Jupiter and the other one (Kuiper Belt) is beyond Neptune

well... all these planets are in the sloar system which is in the milky way galaxy. the sun is considered the "middle" cause all the planets revlove around it. and mercury is the closest to the sun. The asteriod belt falls between mars and Jupiter. =]
