Hi DeeDee! My very favorite book is "To Kill A Mockingbird"...it represents the south when it is changing (and not changing) it's ways. The little girl, Scout, represents the new southern woman with the ability to speak her mind and recognize right and wrong. Prior to this time, women "kept their place" and didn't speak up much. Also, there is a murder in town, a young black man is accused. He is innocent, but because he is black, he is found guilty. (Shows the south NOT changing). Check out the movie sometime...it's wonderful!

Dune series, by Frank Herbert. I like it because it has a plot that spans over three thousand years and characters unmatched by any author. Reading and watching science fiction today you can totally see how almost every writer has been inspired by the author, from The Matrix to The Wheel of Time series by Robert Jordan (second favorite series) you really should check this book out, it's freak'n awesome.

Wow, my favorite is The Stand, too, and for much the same reason. I just feel like I'm reuniting with old friends every time I pick up the book. The characters are really well developed and the plot just won't let go. I start feeling a little flu-ish every time I read it, though...LOL.

Dune, by Frank Herbert

It is a richly realized world with vibrant characters in an epic struggle. The story is enthralling and the characters are very real and have motivations to their actions instead of just acting as dictated by the story. The whole series is excellent reading and I highly recommend it.

My favorite book is Shattered Chain by Marion Zimmer Bradley because it helped me realize what was wrong with my first marriage and how to heal myself so I was ready for the love of my life.

Fight Club- Chuck Palahniuk
it may seem like a story about a testosterone driven anger fighting novel but the story makes alot of points both pro and con to certain beliefs that make you think instead of just read

My favorite book is "Where the red furn grows" because it paints such a beautiful image of a boy and his struggle to earn money to buy a coon dog. Also of his home in the ozarks and his adventures with his dogs.
