123 and 45 should work. As long as the largest numbers have the least number of digits.

OK, the smallest product comes from the smallest numbers.
So the 2 digit number starts with 1, the 3 digit with 2.
The next smallest number is 3, which goes in the 2 digit side.
Next is 4 which goes on the 3 digit number, then 5.
So we have: 13 * 245 = 3180.

this is a game. what it is asking is that you form 2 numbers. 1 that is 3-digits long and the other being 2-digits long.

the goal is to have the smallest number possible.

this is to test you on place value and multiplication.

so, based on what I said, there are a couple of things to keep in mind.
1. save your lowest digits for high place-values.
2. ue your highest numbers in the lowest place values.
