"Goodbye" actually started out as being "God Be With You", it just got shortened to "Goodbye", so next time you have to say goodbye, just think of what it used to be and you won't feel bad :o)

I know what your saying I hate goodbyes its like death to me because if you say goodbye you really have no way of knowing if it will be the last time you see that person again or cross paths with them in this reality or realm that you and I are communicating in right now :)))I guess the truth is the good is the memory we take of that special meeting with say someone we have admired their work for a long time and got to spend 4 quality hours in their presence and might never see them again but the point as my heart was breaking when I said Goodbye it was a good experience that I could say Goodbye too haha :)))

The word originally asked for the guidance and presence of God, knowing that departure was sad and fraught with unpredictability in even the best of circumstances. Good Bye to Fair or Fare well is like God take care of you through the period of your absence to You do well or fair while gone or going (faring as a wayfarer fairly, by the bye, in the sweet bye and bye).
[Adios or Adieu says the same thing, but I prefer Au Revoir , Auf Wiedersehen, Sayonara, Dros Vitanya, or Tot Strecks meaning I look forward to seeing you again or better yet Shalom, Peace and wholeness or Aloha Oi, Love, which can be extended Aloha-a,O kaii Kaii, We really love you and the same can be used for Hello ,either the Hebrew or Hawaiian.]
[Hell in hello was originally Hael, a greeting of brightness.]

Goodbye originated from the term "G*d be with Ye". Over the years it evolved to goodbye. So you can feel okay feeling bad - there really never was a good in goodbye.

Every once in awhile, if we are fortunate, we find that our struggles have led us to something of personel value. It can be expressed in many ways. I like to think of it as finding a moment or time that was genuinelly LIVED. But moments change. We can look back and cherish that time- the "richness" that we felt, but ironically, what we acknowledge is the subtle transformation that has taken place. It is the price we pay for LIVING. We grow! We know we are going to need to move on- as it should be. We can't go home again. To continue, to thrive, a new "home" is necessary.

I suspect you will always have a lot of windows.

Feel free to visit. The connections you made say a lot about you as a person.

Goodbye. Hmmm...why is there a good...eh. I guess even though your leaving and saying bye to that person you still leave that small and overlooked luck with them...Good. So maybe even if the goodbye is sad for us...maybe...just maybe by adding the good for them...it is helping them.

P.S. - Hey Enki...Isn't this a short answer compared to my others? LOL. But I really hate this answer as well.

Don't forget, it makes the other feel "bad," too. (I didn't know the origin.)
Enki, a "final" goodbye is always sad. A temporary goodbye can be full of cheer & good wishes, & looking forward to saying "hello" again.
Best not to say goodbye to one another with finality, unless it simply can't be avoided, & we know we shall never return.

It makes the person who you are saying GOODBYE fell happy and fell that you care for them thats why there is a word GOOD in the word GOODBYE.

oh!
my friend
what are you saying?
well!
because you don't want to leave that company, you are enjoying in the company of specific people, your heart is sticked to that circle of people or a person, you want that time will never end and you remain among them but time is no letting you that's why you are sad.
but there might be another reason
how can i know ?
if you don't tell.
well!
goodbye has different meanings in front of different people.
some in a routine wise say goodbye to their friends or colleagues goodbye means
this is it for today i will come tomorrow.
some don't use the word goodbye rather they say
i am coming back.
goodbye in front of some people means be in the protection of Allah , May Allah protect you from all dangers.
but those who don't say goodbye they say goodbye only one time
when they want to leave somebody and don't want to continue friendship with that person so instead of saying thousands of words they simply say goodbye.
