I work at a Fortune 50 company and if you are a minority it is impossible to get fired and very easy to get promoted. I never believed this until I took this job.

Are you serious???? You have got to be kidding , right??? If you are a good worker, no matter what color you should get promoted right along with everyone else. If you feel you have been discriminated against, file a complaint.........

I feel the same way to an extent, I am a minority and I work for a fortune 100 company. I have tons of education (college degrees, etc) and I am having a hard time getting promoted. Everyone that works above has never went to college. They are their because they have been with the company for years. People should be judged on what they bring to the table. regardless of color, religion and so forth, the best person for the job should be given the job and thats the way it should be.

It is impossible for us all to be on an equal playing field because we are not all equal. Certain groups must suffer so that other groups can prosper. At times white people suffer to decrease the gap between them and minorities. Ususally the poor who are predominantly of colour must suffer so that the rich who are predominantly white can grow richer. White people come into the world with a serious advantage whether they appreciate that fact or not. People of colour come into the world at a disadvantage, especially in America. What is happening at your company is an attempt to level the playing field, but like I said earlier that is impossible.

You forgot to insert the word "against" and the place of business you are speaking of is a Fortune 500 company. I seriously doubt YOU are being discriminated against in this instance!

My years of experience as a manager of such a company tells me you aren't working hard enough to deserve a promotion - because we can't afford to promote people who don't make money for us. If a black man or woman works harder than you, guess who's liable to get fired first?

You answered your own question with one word, "white".

My son in law can't get rid of poor performing minorities in his line of work because "HR" is scared to death of discrimination lawsuits. So his department suffers performance problems as a result, Oh, but he can fire non-minority poor performers, and he does.

It's happening all over. Its called payback for all the years of suffering that nobody in our generation caused. But our generation is the scapegoat. Human resources can't even answer this question. And they agree it's going on.

you are not a "token" and if you are given the slightess slack you will have those minorities shouting that you are privileged because you are white. basically it is reversed racisim...yet if you say anything then you are in the wrong for it.
open your eyes and compare....it's all over.....the white....excuse me the PC term is caucasian , they are crucified because of all of the "history" against minorities.but it's history learn from it move on and don't do the same things.....like reverse the racism

Name a U S President who wasn't a white male. That being said, it's easier to holler discrimination than to work your butt off for what you want in life.

This just didn't happen overnight. I blame it all on unscrupulous lawsuits and the wormy lawyers behind them. I'm blue collar and I see it every day too.
