When I was in high school, my mother used to drive my sister and I to the grocery store and wait in the car while we bought what was need in the house.
Her and I would fake accents while waiting in line, just to confuse people and entertain ourselves.
We did the Irish often, and some people actually did think we were, which was amusing for the both of us.
Sometimes we'd mix it around, just to provoke serious confusion, we'd speak English with an Indian accent or Jamaican Patua (sp?), neither of which we did well, it was still funny nonetheless.

Sure, when I lived in Manhattan the bus drivers were really rude except to visitors from Europe. So if I needed directions from the bus or where to get off,I would do a fake German accent. It worked fine until one day a real German tried to strike up a chat with me in German. The whole busload burst into laughter when it dawned on them what my dilemna was, especially after this Jewish lady pulled it out of me what my motive was. They all had to admit it was a neat trick.

I once used a fake british accent while speaking into a voice changer, it totally threw the person for a loop. Made them freak out pretty bad, but it was worth it.

Well, sort of. I try to supress my southern accent because people make fun of it. But eventually, it slips out when I am not thinking of it.

I remember my brother and I used to do this all the time- especially when we vacationed in Mexico. We must have been about 9 or 10 years old! Man, we had fun with that! Thanks for the memory!
