Evaluate square root of (7399), using as much of the information below as is necessary.

[square root of (1.51) = 1.23, square root of (1.51 = 3.86]


Please show your workings clearly, thanks.

The working solutions used square root of (1.51) = 1.23 BUT not square root of (1.51) = 3.86...why is that so? Please tell me? Thanks a lot! =)

Just get rid of the last digit and you'll have your answer.

sqrt(7399) = sqrt(49*151)
= 7sqrt(151)
=7sqrt(1.51*100)
=(7)(10)sqrt(1.51)
= 70(1.23)
= 86.1
Note: square of 1.23 = 1.5129 , where as square of 3.86 is 14.8996 but not 1.51 so only first one was used

√(7399) = √(100)(49)(1.51) = (10)(7)√1.51 = (70)(1.23) = 86.1

Did you type wrongly: square root of (15.1) = 3.88.
As Bob H showed, there isn't a square root of (15.1) there to be used.
