Does anyone have any good ideas on what kids would like to get when they go trick or treating besides candy? I know, I know, kids want the candy but I really need some alternative views (don't worry I still plan on using candy!)
Do you think kids would like to get $.50 or something along those lines? Or maybe a small craft kit...I really just need ideas to bring to a group. Thanks in advance!

Usually they have halloween-themed individual cereal/marshmallow bars, microwaveable popcorn packets, and goldfish crackers. if you want non-snack/candy stuff then try those small multiple pack play-doughs, halloween stickers and other party favors, plastic skeletons, spider rings, little pumpkin containers, etc.

Also, I make halloween fortunes each year using Word. They include halloween fortunes, halloween jokes, and a spooky famous quote. I add holiday clip-art and use a creepy font. Then I print them out on orange, green or purple paper and tie it with a contrasting ribbon. These are mixed in with my treat bags.

Halloween Fortunes:

A Name on the Wind, A Face from the Past,
A Voice long un-heard shall be heard at last!

Watch what you Say, Mind what you Do,
For there is Someone watching you!

Halloween Jokes:

Why didn’t the skeleton cross the road?
He didn’t have the guts.

How can you tell when windows are scared?
Answer: They get shudders.

Spooky Quotes:

Death may be the greatest of all human blessings. –Socrates (BC 469-399)

The dream of reason produces monsters. –Francisco Goya (1746-1828)

All say, "How hard it is that we have to die,"a strange complaint to come from the mouths of people who have had to live. –Mark Twain (1835-1910)

Smaller kids like stickers and plastic rings and small toys things like that, but nothing beats candy, one year I gave candy and the little juice boxes because the trick or treaters get so thirsty while out.

Other items I have seen: toothbrushes (always hilarious for the kids, eh?), pencils, rulers, plastic spiders or bats, etc. Hit the dollar stores for party favor type things.

The best response I got was the year I gave out comic books - they were a hit. The next year, kids were asking for them again.

Why don't you want to give out candy?

If you aren't going to give out cany, then I think money is the only other option. Which of course, you know they will use to buy candy.

If you are against giving out candy, I suggest, not turning your porch light on and either leaving your house or hiding out.

Fruit snacks are the best bet. They are sweet like the kids want and healthy like the adults want.
