I agree. As I see it, it's demeaning to the friend you're talking to. It's like your keeping your spouse to yourself and shutting everyone else out.

I prefer to use the NAME of my significant other ... and not to just say "He is my boyfriend". This is especially true since I am definitely over a half-century old, and we both have lived different and separate lives ... including careers, education, and other things. With myself (Female) being Retired Military .. and he has lived life otherwise ... this is just RESPECT for the man (which I am dating at this time).

I use his name... everyone knows he is my BF.. besides it sounds like the gals have a hard time finding or keeping a BF so they continously refer to the guy as her BF... "I have a boyfriend . la de da"
