i want to try out for my first ever school play on tuesday (9/11/07) and it says that we can either have a cold reading or a cold reading and then a prepared monologue. i asked my friends who were in plays last year and they said the theater teacher likes if you have both ready. what type of monologue should i do/prepare?

any help would be appreciated.

thanks!!!!!

Select something that is not too long maybe 1 to 2 min. you can take a short except from a book , short story, a movie, or play. You may even want to purchase a book of monologues at the local bookstore…they have decent and easy to memorize monologues. Try to have it memorized … that always looks good at an audition. Mostly chose something that you feel comfortable with, and make sure that you show your range when performing.
Examples: a short piece from to Kill a Mocking Bird or the crucible or Walden (teachers always love it)

the standard kind of monologue for play tryouts is a 1-2 minute long speech from a play. Go to the teacher and ask for help in finding one. Break a leg!

do one about an embarrasing moment but make it super animated and fun.
