hook up a laptop?

so my laptops screen is dead but the actual laptop itself works. someone told me that i can hook up my laptop to my pc monitor so that i can still use all my files on my laptop. does anyone know how i can do this?

Sure if your monitor is has a USB connection just plug it in to your USB outlet.

plug it into the port on the back of your computer
Then hold down FN button and press F5
