On your calculator, enter the decimal then press the ABC button.

Without a calculator:
the numbers in the decimal form the numerator (the top of the fraction). Leave out the decimal point.
The denominator (the bottom of the fraction) is a number composed of a "1" followed by the same number of "0"s as there are numbers after the decimal point in the decimal.

For example: 0.257 as a fraction will be 257 on the top of the fraction, and 1000 on the bottom because 1000 has three 0s and there are three numbers after the decimal point.

For example: 2.75 as a fraction will be 275 on the top of the fraction (leave out the decimal point) and 100 on the bottom of the fraction because there are two numbers after the decimal point and therefore our denominator will have a "1" followed by 2 zeros

Here is how:

.50 is equal to 50/100 and when you reduce it becomes 1/2 (50 goes into 50 once and 50 goes into 100 twice). The rule I use is:

Take the number in the decimal number, remove the decimal point and use that as the numerator (number on the top, in this case it would be 50). The denominator (number at the bottom) would be 1 and the number of zeros equal to the number of digits in the numerator (two in this case which would 100)

Hope this helps

if there is only one decimal point, you put it over a ten, and leave the first number
Eg, 5.6 = 5 6/10
if u want it as one big fraction, you multiply the whole number with the denominatior, and add it to the numerator
Eg, 5 6/10 = 56/10
because 5 * 10=50 + 6=56 all over 10

in case you have a mixed form: - replace the mixed form into an unsuitable fraction by ability of multiplying the entire form by ability of the the denominator. Then take that answer and upload the numerator to it. placed that form over the unique denominator of the mixed form. as quickly as you have a fragment, divide the numerator by ability of the denominator. stick to the regulations for dividing, and additionally you're starting to be your answer. this is terrific to proceed dividing till the form terminates, or if the decimal seems to get too long, purely around it up the the closest 10th or thousandth place value.
