The success rates of getting pregnant after a tubal reversal can range from 30-80% depending on what type of ligation was done. The longer time has passed between the ligation and the reversal the lower the odds of a reversal being successful.

The typical range for successful reversal (open tubes after surgery) is typically about 65-85%, depending on the skill of the surgeon.

However, your chances of delivering a live-born child will depend on several things:

1) your age
2) your ovarian reserve (if your cycle day 3 FSH is high, or if your cycle day 3 estrogen is high, this procedure is less likely to work -- talk to doctor about this)
2) whether your partner has adequate sperm
3) the skill of the physician performing the surgery
4) the type of ligation that you had (how much undamaged tube is remaining)

With a tubal ligation reversal you are at increased risk for a tubal pregnancy. If you get pregnant, you should be monitored closely for that as well.

Based on what you've said, I think your chances of a live-born baby would be fairly small. In most states, the youngest you can be and get a tubal ligation is age 22. If this is the case, you would be at least 40 years old now. This does not mean you won't get pregnant, but you should be carefully evaluated before you throw away precious resources, time and risk surgery.

Of course there are other options besides tubal reversal surgery. I would be happy to discuss those with you and let you know what is available in your area.

Don't hesitate to email me with further questions or details.
