Because befor marijuana became illegal, everyone was ditching alchohol for marijuana. The brewers were outraged, they were losing money, as was the government. So what did they do? Banded together. Outlawed it. Look it up. IT was a tax scheme. There was no moral or medical reasoning to initally outlaw marijuana. Look it up, It's part of history!

Who is Alyssa Morrison? Did she steal your boyfriend or bullied you at school?
You just posted this question using her name so she will get a knock on the door in the next 3 hours and someone from the Drug squad will be standing there with a search warrent.
Alyssa, if you see this, flush your stock before you answer the door.
LOL ... just kidding

Actually the reason is that it was associated with Mexican immigrants. It is a safer drug than nicotine or alcohol, so there is no reason for it to be illegal if those drugs are legal.
To Andy H, the stamp was deemed unconstitutional by the sumpreme court. It was Timothy Leary who took it to court. A more comprehensive drug law was passed by Congress right after the supreme court decision. That law has not yet been deemed unconstitutional.

the government is too busy doing other things. If they knew a way to make a ton of money off of it, like the buckets of money federal excise tax on our high car fuel bills, they'd give it a go. It's probably not to far off in the future. I was one of those hippies in the 60's. I can tell you now, there is adverse residual effects from it, years later. You'll have to wait and find out. Alcohol, or herb, in a human body is not a good thing.

your right. technically, weed isn't illegal if you have a tax-stamp on it. funny though, no stamp of this kind has ever been made. that's how they got away with making weed illegal. i wouldn't go as far to say it was the booze makers though, I've read it was the same like minded people that pushed for prohibition.

Marijuana SHOULD be legal. It grows naturally in nature. No one makes you or anyone else smoke it. The government is far to intrusive in people's lives already!

Oh. Ok. Thanks. I don't get what your question is though, since you just told us why marijuana is illegal (in your opinion), doesn't that make the question you asked moot?
I'm a libertarian, but seriously, **** off and get to a forum.
