But we are there now. Why would you want America to take a defeatist position and weaken ourselves in the face of the world by not finishing the job of stabilizing Iraq and attempt to give them a leg to stand on?

Americans are alot like sheep; easily led and easily confused. They don't understand the war in Iraq, so it must be bad and must be stopped. They don't understand the intricacies of the region or why it's important that we're there. They don't remember that before we invaded, the Middle East was a hands off part of the world and we had no sphere of influence over there. Worst of all, they don't care whether Iraq becomes a democracy or reverts to a dictatorship. If it's not in an American's face, they'd rather watch TV or go jetskiing.

Lets be more realistic about the situation and less Rhetoric.

To win the war these questions must be answered.

1. ) Which sides do you take? Us confedarates or the Unions? the shiites or sunnis?
To stabilize the country only 1 of them can dominate whereas the other take a back seat. Power sharing wont work.

2) Now come to the Kurds dilemma, its been their hidden agenda to establish their own country and split from Iraq to combine with the kurdish parts in Turkey. Should the US be involved and grant them independence or oppress them so that the country stay intact like what Saddam did?

3) How to stop the illegal weapon flow into the country? Im not talking about the Iranians supplies, yes they do it, but also from our own side. Most of our weapons given to the Iraqis are un-accounted for, most of the missing ones ended up with the insurgents. Our own defense industries are making illegal arms sales into the country, why are we letting them do it? How to stop it?

the question is... what is "finishing the job"... and how do you do it?

without any real goals... there will never be a win...

the few goals that I've seen stated show a ridiculously naive understanding of the structure and culture of the middle east and will never be done... and most would be equal to setting a goal of "turning every American into a satanist"

the other issue here is... you guys say over and over again that terrorists are destabilizing Iraq... but the terrorists leaders aren't in Iraq and are launching attacks from outside of the nation...

how do you plan to stop that? they've got enough "martyrs" to last for YEARS AND YEARS...

is there one Republican that has any clue about the real issues in Iraq and what's going on? all I see are ridiculously overgeneralized statements with no concern of the actual facts of the situation...

that's a recipe for disaster... and Iraq will never be stabilized that way....

much like the soviets in Afghanistan in the 80s...

you can't win if you don't even understand the war, how it's waged, who you're fighting, or what you even want to achieve...

just saying "we need to win"... doesn't win wars...

The job we went in for, was to find WMDs, and to remove Sadam Hussein form power..

The first turned out to be a screw-up on our part.. and the second - well we all know where Sadam is today...

So technically those two tasks are completed..

BUT... what's happening today is not going to end any time soon... there is no consensus down there, ad too many guns, in the hands of too many people...

Sooner or later, America will pull out... Bush (et al) want to be there as long as possible, because they know that they need a "semi stable" government in place before leaving..

Bush (et al) knows that once they pull western troops out of Iraq, Iran will flood in with their military, and they will create a HUGE bloodshed...

Iran does not answer to the press, or to it's electorate.. they only answer to themselves.. they don't care about slaughtering millions of Iraqis (and they will just move into Kuwait while at it)...

This is why Bush (et al) insist on staying in Iraq today... we think it's bad there now, but.. think about it.. when Iran floods in, the desert will really turn red...

At that time we'll have no desire to go in and protect those who have been opposing our efforts (good or bad) there now...

It wil get ugly.

They have a leg to stand on. We have poured billions into the country, trained a police force and military, helped them draft a Constitution, helped them hold elections to form a government. How much are we expected to do before we expect them to stand on their own and take responsibility for their nations future? Our position in the world is weakened every day we continue to support this war. We will not admit we made a mistake nor admit we are doing anything wrong.

As a doctor, my husband will stop a course of treatment if it's not working and/or it shows to be detrimental to the patient, even if the treatment seemed like the right thing to do at first. Keeping the treatment going, just to show that you are not a weak doctor is nothing short of malpractice. This is exactly the same thing... Malpractice.

I wouldn't. We need to finish the job, pure and simple. Iraq is now the main front of the war on terror, not Afghanistan, a retreat from Iraq would be catastrophic. The Iraqi people deserve a chance at freedom, even if their government is weak and inept.

Liberals do not see the consequences of a withdrawal from a World-Wide War on Global Jihad, what they do not understand, is that, Radical Jihad is not confined to Iraq, or Afghanistan, or Africa, or Russia, or Germany, it is not a war confined to one single country, It is GLOBAL, Radical Jihad has it's factions in every country, including America, and if we pull out now, that would mean putting the eyes of the whole entire world on America, because they have the most hate for America because of our Freedom and more so, for our Prosperity and richness of living conditions (Food, Clean Water, Shelter, and added necessities for comfort).

If we would pull out now, that would mean victory for the Terrorists, and dis-honor to our Awesome Military men and women!!

Think about it Libs -- Do we want to sacrifice our A#1 Class rate, to a Third world Nation, and to the entire world in the assumption, that Radical Jihad won't reach the doorstep of America?

They don't even want us there because of Bush's bungling and drooling over their oil. Bush refuses to go until he gets those oil contracts plain and simple.

Everyone with a brain is in agreement on why the war started. George Bush took his eye off the ball and listened to Dick Cheney. The only people who don't know that are the people who are too stupid to recognize a governmental power grab when they see it. Oh... and the Bush's stupid supporters too.
