Mine was doing this last year and the guy at Best Buy told me to try this and it worked. I had went to purchase more memory when I told him what my computer was doing, which is exactly what you said, so this is what he said to try first. Get the pc tower and you will see a fan on the back of it. Unplug everything and then losen the screws and take the metal part off the tower because there is another fan on the inside that is probably clogged with dirt if it has never been cleaned. My computer at the time was 4 years old...5 now. So I did this and just got a can of air and hit it with the air...dirt went everywhere! I put it back together, started my computer and it has been running smooth ever since. Good luck girl.

Your computer should run fine with most games if you have 512 MB of RAM. Make your paging file 1.5 times the amount of RAM. Then it should work better. If 512 does not work try 1GB.
Just so you know, you can speed start-up by click on Start, going to run and typing in msconfig . Hit enter. Then go over to start-up and uncheck all of the programs you don't want to start.

I don't know where you're getting 4 times as much virtual memory. VM is erasable memory used for caching, etc. I can't say I understand 5.2MBs with 136.27MBs available either. You're saying you have more available than's possible. Anyway, if your under 50% of available physical memory your PC starts slowing. PM has to do with your harddrive. It stays there. Anyway again, try lessening memory set aside for programs like Recycle Bin, etc.

Get more memory---go here and click on "scan my system" and see what kind of upgrades are available. You can even print the page out and take it to a place like Best Buy and have them sell you the right kind. Should have at least 512MB but I suggest 1or 2 GB if you game.

I believe you are reading the memory wrong. right -click on my computer, click on properties, the popup should tell you the speed and type of processor and how much memory you have...I believe you probably have 512 Mb of RAM, should upgrade to at least 1 GB

You are probably still using integrated graphics that shares with system RAM. Installing a discrete graphics card eliminates shared RAM and improves game performance a LOT. Increasing RAM also improves overall PC performance. If you are using XP, 2x512mb RAM should be great.

Oh yeah you need RAM. You should be running minimum of 256mb for XP and I would recommend 512 MB of RAM.
