My car wasn't starting (just hearing the solenoid click). I thought it was the starter, so I pulled the started and bench tested it. The starter spun as is should, but the starter itself didn't move. I am under the assumption that the starter should have so much torque that it would kick around on the ground. I just got a spin. Is it possible to have a weak starter, or do they either work or don't work? And in the future if I'm testing mine, should it jump around (torque) on the ground during a test?
Thanks

If you just would have tested the cable to the starter with a voltmeter when someone was trying to turn it over you might have saved a lot of work.
