Hi Aiden,

First of all congratulations on your good grades and extra activities in school.

Some times parents make promises that unfortunately they are unable to keep and I am sure this an unpleasant experience for all.

Speak to your parents and find out why they are seemingly unable to keep their promise.

Maybe they feel you may be too young, perhaps they just don't have the extra money and just can't afford the expense or maybe they are afraid that you may become a crime victim as a young person with a laptop.

If it's the money offer to pay a portion, then try getting a part-time job or other means of earning money such as :
1. weekend car washing
2. baby sitting
3. lawn mowing
4. pet walking
5. paper delivering
I can list many others but I sure you must know about them
also.

If they feel you are to young, offer to abide by rules that all of you discuss and agree to.

If you attend school in a high crime area a laptop can make you a victim, you must avoid risks to your personal safety.

Hope this helps. Good luck !!

P.S.
One respondent suggested that a letter from your teacher might help, that's a great idea. Also I recently saw a fine laptop at Office Depot for $399.00 after rebates. They always go on sale just be patient

Split the cost, or at least a portion of the expense with them, then they will know that you are serious and that you will take care of it since you are helping to foot the bill. Laptops can be pricey. I got a laptop bundle at Walmart for about $900, which included a bag and printer and was HP wireless. Nice. Just try to find one that won't break the bank, you should be able to find some deals on them right now. If you can't help pay for it if you don't have any money saved up, try having them take a little out of your allowance, or offer to do more chores or babysit so mom and dad can have a date night. Good Luck.

Ask your teacher to write your parents a note explaining on the use would benefit you in class

Wait til after your birthday, if you dont get one, quit the school activities, get a part time job instead, and buy your own.
