A piece of lead having a mass of 104.5 g is placed in an empty graduated cylinder.
35.0 mL of water is then poured slowly and carefully into the same cylinder. The final water level would then indicate the total volume of the materials in the graduated cylinder.

Density of Lead (Pb) is 11.40 g/cm^3. Hence 104.5 g lead is of volume 104.5/11.4 = 9.17 cm^3. If this volume can be completely immersed in water, water volume would be expanded for 9.17ml. Therefore, the total volume of water with immersed piece of lead is 35.0ml + 9.17ml = 44.2ml.
