I was told that being obsessive with your lover always ends in abuse. Is this true?

Obsession as in "love too much", if there is such a thing.

Oh, and no, I'm not being jealous, stalkerish, or controlling, nor do I physically hurt her.
She told me that she heard being obsessed with the person you're with ends in abuse but I disagree.

Jealousy is never a good thing, it leads to trouble just as being obsessive is.
Your partner is a person that has rights, she or he is a free person to do as they feel. Of course being married sets the rules for both, if she or he cannot follow the guidelines then divorce is the finality.

Being jealous or obsessive is wrong, I would suggest some guidance classes for the married couples to try and get over this. It's going to be your downfall in time.

Define obsessive?.

Are you following him/her everywhere they go ? , are you jealous of anyone who speaks to them? , are you controlling where they eat and with who?, its a huge definition.

But according to statistics yes 9 time's out of 10 it can lead to violence , there is no reason to be obsessive about a relationship , thats not love its just the inability to be yourself so controlling someone else gives you what you think you need to make you who you think you should be.

If your being obsessive dont stay in the relationship , if your partner is being obsessive get a restraining order and leave them in their fantasy world.

Depends on the situation. To a certain extent, obsession is a part of love - but taken to an extreme degree, it can certainly end up as abuse.
