NO THEY ARE NOT THE SAME. If people don't know, they should not answer. Basically a Pentium Dual Core is a Core Duo with the cache cut in half. It is a very small difference architecturally, but it is highly important when looking at performance. The Pentium Dual Cores are technially newer, but are less powerful.

Same cores, different size L2 caches.
