the difference is:

-5² = -5 x -5 = 25
-(5)² = - (5 x 5) = -25

if u still don't get it, i try to explain the second one:
-(5)² is equivalent to -1 x (5)²
so, using rules of math, we have to square first, then followed by multiply.
therefore, -1 x (5)² = -1 x 25 = -25

i guess this would help u :)

-5^2 = -25
(-5)^2 = 25

on the first one, you only square the 5, then "add" the negative on after you square it. on the second one, you square the negative five; if you take a negative number to an even power, the result will be positive, to an odd power, and it will stay negative.

There is none. Either way the negative is seperate from the 5, really. (-5)^2 would be squaring the negative, making it positive. The two you have listed are 25 with a negative/minus sign in front of them, getting you -25.

The 1st one you square the whole number.

In the 2nd one, you square only what is in the brackets. Meaning you won't square the negative sign.

-5 squared, written as -5^2 = -5 * -5 = 25

-(5) squared, written as, - (5)^2 = - (5 * 5) = -25

The first one is -5 times -5 which is 25
The 2'nd one is the negative of 5 times 5 which is -25

they are the exact same thing unless you do -5^2 and (-5)^2

then the second would be negative five squared and it would be 25 while the other is the opposite of negative five squared, -25.
