I wouldn't want to be a liberal and here's some more reasons why:
1. You have to be against capital punishment, but support abortion on
demand.

2. You have to believe that businesses create oppression and governments
create prosperity.

3. You have to believe that guns in the hands of law-abiding citizens are
more of a threat than U.S. nuclear weapons technology in the hands of
Chinese and North Korean communists.

4. You have to believe that there was no art before federal funding.

5. You have to believe that gender roles are artificial, but being
homosexual is natural.

6. You have to believe that the AIDS virus is spread by a lack of federal
funding.

7. You have to believe that the same teacher who can't teach 4th-graders how to read is somehow qualified to teach those same kids about sex.

8. You have to believe that hunters don't care about nature, but PETA
activists do.

9. You have to believe that self-esteem is more important than actually
doing something to earn it.

10. You have to believe that Mel Gibson spent $25 million of his own money
to make "The Passion of the Christ" for financial gain only.

11. You have to believe the NRA is bad because it supports certain parts of
the Constitution, while the ACLU is good because it supports certain parts
of the Constitution.

12. You have to believe that taxes are too low, but ATM fees are too high.

13. You have to believe that Margaret Sanger and Gloria Steinem are more
important to American history than Thomas Jefferson, Gen. Robert E. Lee, and Thomas Edison.

14. You have to believe that standardized tests are racist, but racial
quotas and set-asides are not.

15. You have to believe that the only reason socialism hasn't worked
anywhere it's been tried is because the right people haven't been in charge.

16 You have to believe that gay parades displaying drag queens and
transvestites should be constitutionally protected, and manger scenes at
Christmas should be illegal.

17. You have to believe that this message is a part of a vast, right-wing
conspiracy.

18. You have to believe that we as parents are too stupid to raise our own children, but the village collective is better.

19. You have to believe that tobacco is out of control and just smelling it will kill you but the HIV virus is controllable and cheaper to treat.

20. You have to believe that Mother Earth is crying for our help and that the rich right wing SUV drivers are the ones killing it.

21. You have to believe that only the rich are Republicans and that everyone else is oppressed by the rich including rich Hollywood.

22. You have to believe that Government Hand Outs do more for society than a hand up.

23. You have to believe that the Rules of Engagement and UN control wins wars eventhough our enemy does not comply.

24. You have to believe that saving a kanagaroo rat's life is more important than being self sufficient with our own oil.

25. You have to believe that it was President Bush's fault for the bridge collapsing and not just poor maintenance.

26. You have to believe that Hurricane Katrina wiping out New Orleans is President Bush's fault and not the fact that it sits below sea level on a vulnerable coast line.

27. You must protest against your own millitary and hand over it's control to the UN instead of supporting them and their fight for our freedoms.

28. You have to believe that the New World Order is the safest place to be and not the United States of America or One nation under God!

29. You have to believe that Spanish is a much better language to speak than English

That's where we see things differently, even when we agree.

I watch the Republican party steadfastly removing the constitutional rights of citizens, and instead granting unprecedented freedoms to massive corporations, and I think "Republicans must hate America."

I watch as these same corporations make bad business decisions, and get bailed out by the government to keep jobs. Communism requires a large workforce, Capitalism would easily fill the niche with smaller new businesses. I see them do this, and I think "Republicans must hate Capitalism."

I see the President create a wholly new layer of beauracracy on top of our already existing law enforcement agencies, and his Republican Congress easily pass the misnomerous Patriot Act, and I think "Republicans just made the government a LOT bigger, and more intrusive." I agree with you that smaller less intrusive government is better, but I wonder how you can still support the Republican Party.

The American Dream is to start a successful business; not to work a desk job until you retire, and earn a watch. Keeping massively conglomerated corporations afloat won't help anybody achieve the American Dream. Look at the Insurance industry- it's nothing but cost sharing socialism, in the guise of corporatism. I do work for the American Dream, and unfortunately the most truly conservative party around is the Democrats.

If you really believe everything you said, then you are conservative. The GOP isn't, and hasn't been for a long time.

Way to go on the misconceptions. I'm a liberal, and I don't hate my country, just the government that's running it. I don't want to be a communist state because there's no good examples of communism working. And I don't want the government to act as a parent, I want it to act beneficially towards the people. After all, that's what governments do.
As for you wanting the American dream and being willing to work for it, I want that too. Guess what? I have no problem with that idea. In fact, none of what you said suggests a difference between the 2 that actually exists. That means we're the same! At least, that's the message I'm getting from you.

Why does conservatives label anyone who disagree with their view a communist? or is it just you ?

I love my country, paid my taxes, and living the american dream not the communist dream.
I based my course of action on my judgment and intiuition rather than based from a religion. I am proud to be a modern liberal.

For the same reason people do not want to be a modern conservative.
They do not want to hate their country. They do not want to live in a fascist state. They do not want un-needed corporate welfare giveaways. They do not want to live in a Nanny(big Brother) state. They do not want the Largest most expensive Federal Government in US history. They do not want un-payable Federal debt.
They want the American Dream, Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness, and are willing to fight for it.

I am NOT a "Liberal" or a "Conservative."
I am both, but.

I am an AMERICAN first.

I don't hate America. Sometimes I disagree with things we have done or do. I don't like communism because it is unnatural and violates civil liberties. I don't want the government to be my parent for life. I do want it to help out its people, be responsible and not beholden to the almighty dollar and corporate America.

My American dream consists of working hard at a job I enjoy (for that I am willing to go to college and work hard there and then possibly go grad school). I want to marry my love, possibly have kids. I want to help people improve their lives and make systems work better in efficient, responsible ways. I am willing to work hard also, I am a liberal.

Based on your lies and your equating liberalism with communism, It's obvious you want to live in the state of perpetual ignorance.

I swear the cons on this board are some of the stupidest, most ignorant and arrogant people on the planet. You support a socialist system for the Oil corporations, the pharmaceuticals and the mega farm corporations when you vote GOP because the GOP gives these people grants and subsidies with YOUR taxes on top of the already lower taxes and tax breaks and tax dodges that they already have. The GOP invented the word Big Government and by golly they've got it today: The biggest government give aways to corporations and special interests in all of U.S history. It's called corporate welfare. It's obvious you're a fascist if you support this kind of fascist government. But we liberals are still supporters of democracy.

Are you saying that you love everything that Bush is doing? Did you love everything that Clinton did when he was president? And are you saying that you don't believe in social security, medicare, unemployment compensation, farm subsidies, flood insurance, government aid for education? Because - sorry - but your republican party will not back you on getting rid of those things. If they ever did....they would be thrown out in a second. So....I guess we are ALL liberals and communists according to you.
