There is an improv group at my school that are having auditions on the 12th. I have social anxiety disorder, and was really bad at auditions, but I'm good at improv. My only problem is this: They have a group on Facebook, and some of the members were some of the meanest, most popular people in the school (or their siblings, anyway)! I am extremely shy, and really overweight, although I've lost fifteen pounds all in the name of theatre, but that still leaves me at 190. This group performs in front of the school, and I'm afraid that they'll be hesitant in accepting me because of the way I look. Considering some of the other members, I don't know if it's worth joining. I really want to though, because it's the only extracurricular drama-related club in the whole school. Should I audition? Or should I try not to embarass myself.

Why hells yes you should audition! No brainer here. Don't be afraid to be bad. Don't be afraid to fail. Nothing happens to you if you do either of those things. If you get in I'd bet you'd find those "mean kids" aren't as terrible as you think. In fact, I insist you audition and one way or another you either post another question or send me an e-mail telling us all how you did. If you don't get in it's not the end of the world. You can find another outlet for your creativity. You should find an improv class outside of school. It's some of the best training you can get. Any you get over any stage fright you may have had going in. DO THIS! I'm expecting to hear from you on the 13th!

Audition. The worst that can happen is you won't be accepted into the group. If you don't audition you will definitely not be accepted into the group. They may give you props for having the guts to come out! Don't be afraid to show them your skills. Seriously, if this is where you excel, let it shine!

good luck!
