I was wondering if any of you girls ever had, or ever heard of anyone else getting an infection after a miscarriage for not getting a D&C. Does an infection stop you from getting pregnant again?

I have never had an infection after a miscarriage. I had a D&C after my first miscarriage and my second 'came out' completely on it's own. I had scans to make sure everything was gone otherwise an infection would have been a real issue.

I don't know if it can leave you infertile but I know that infections create unneccessary scar tissue which can hinder implantation.

Talk with your doctor. Don't not have the surgery just because you are scared- if that's the issue.

If you had an early miscarriage, you can do a dc or you can wait it out and the tissue will pass out on its own. Usually with some bleeding too. Infection and disseminated intravascular coagulation and other nasty things are very very rare but can happen. As long as you know what to look for, fever >101, uterine tenderness, bleeding and are being followed by a doctor, I'm comfortable in managing this expectantly.

Depends on how far along you were. I miscarried only after a month and I did not have a D&C, and I did not get an infection either....sorry for your loss

yes, its common to get one if you are not taking care of yourself properly.
if the docs said to get a d&c because of left over tissue then yes you should of gotten one.
