Teachers: Can you tell when a student likes you/ your class?

Question

I was just wondering, because I have a teacher whom I look up to and respect more than anyone in the world. But I'm unsure if she can tell this, or if she just thinks of me as another student.

I figure she must at least think I have some good writing skills, because she made me editor of the school paper and when ever there is question in class that no one can get she'll ask me, and I'll get it right. Do you think that she can tell how much I admire her?

I agree - many times I can tell when a student respects me. Sometimes, though, it's hard to tell because the student may be so shy that his/her actions are misinterpreted. Since you really admire this teacher, why don't you tell her? You don't have to be all gushy; just tell her that you think she's a great role model and you admire her dedication. You can do this either with a note or in person. I know how much I appreciate hearing things like this.

I teach first grade and my kids write/make me card that say "I love you." They also give me hugs daily...but that is different. Even though I can tell they like me, cuz kids that age generally do, I am sure your teacher knows you respect her or she would not have asked to to be editor. GOOD LUCK!

Sometimes I can tell, but not always. I think your teacher would appreciate knowing for sure how you feel. A nice card or note would be appropriate.

Sound as if this teacher is, in a roundabout way, showing you that the feeling is mutual. She knows you are dependable and dedicated. I am starting my 22nd year, and, although we don't always show it, we really appreciate students like yourself. You make our jobs enjoyable.
