you really don't want to tell people about this. You don't want to know about the other set of books. Once you know and worked on it, you became part of the conspiracy. Conspiracy means you are part of a group. You could be charged with tax fraud, tax evasion, conspiracy to defraud the government, conspiracy to commit fraud, and on and on. Looks like 25 years to life sentence. You need to tell your employer that you don't want to know about it or see it or work on it.
Now, in real life... a lot of businesses especially restaurants have two sets of recordkeeping and a lot of the business owners are smart enough to hide it from the IRS and from employees. Usually employee doesn't work on both books unless you are related. I think your employer is not smart if you're not related and you better find a new job.

If you stumbled on something like that, you can bet they have also set it up for you or someone like you to take the blame if it ever becomes a problem. I had one employer doing that when I managed a retail store and I quit after I figured out they were skimming 10% off the daily receipts. Since I was accounting for daily sales, it made me look like I was in on it but I most certainly was not.

Find a new job. Seriously. If your employer is willing to screw other people, how do you know you're not going to get it too?

IF YOU WORK ON BOTH SETS OF BOOKS, OR SIGN OFF ON EITHER AS TO THEIR ACCURACY, YOU MAY BE IN LEGAL TROUBLE IF THE 2 SETS ARE DONE TO DECEIVE. TALK TO A LAWYER TO KEEP YOURSELF ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE LAW!!!!!!!
