Let me ask you something, Do you hate it when telemarketers call you during supper time?

I know they're doing their job and I understand but do they need to call at 8 or 9pm? Not only that but some of them don't take no for an answer.

Surfer, I do have caller ID but I dropped my phone so now the screen is broken and I can't see the phone numbers. I haven't had the chance to get a new one yet. I try to be nice to them but when they don't take no or it's a stupid recording, I hang up.

yes and if i am eating i talk whjile i eat and they usually hang up...or if you keep asking them real stupid questions

I found an interesting way to confound them - and anyone else I don't want to talk to for that matter. I simply pick up the phone, and in my best radio personality voice brimming with enthusiasm I say, "HI! WVAF Total Request Radio! Where the HOT hits are the ONLY hits!!!! Go ahead with your request caller - you're ON THE AIR!!!! usually they confusedly ask to speak to me anyway and I repeat to them like I would to someone stupid that they have reached a radio station and is there a song they would like to request? Either they hang up or they get irate. If they do that I hang up - and pull the same spiel when they check the number and call right back - one guy tried three times and couldn't figure out why his computer showed the number as residential! The poor dude was so frustrated he cussed me out! I just hung up on him again. The trick is to get the spiel and your radio voice down pat so you can rattle it off flawlessly every time. Eventually their supervisors flag the number as "commercial" and delete it from the system.

I received an email once, I don't remember the whole thing but... If you ever get them calling.. answer the phone.. then when they ask for... John Smith or who ever.. tell them...
"This is Detective Paul Johnson of the Orlando Metro Homicide Division.. What did you day your name was?? Well sir.. We'd like to ask you a few questions regarding your relationship with Mr Smith"..., then say hang on a moment.. while they hang on.. you call out..." Hey Bill.. get some real good pictures of the body in all different angles."
LOL, hopefully by now they've hung up.

I really really hate that. I try to change the conversation. Like when they don't take no for an answer, I ask how the day is and where they are from. lol I use up just as much of their time as they do mine.

Yes it's horrible they're always different phone companies here - I usually tell them that I have no phone and then hang up on them.

Yes, i once got a call after 930pm

it is a national registry to list all phone numbers including your cell phone numbers.....so they don't call. it takes a few days or a few weeks to kick in though.

I get so pissed! They call me all hours of the day and night!
Then this recording comes on and says, please hold for an important message. I DON'T THINK SO! FIRST IF YOUR CALLING ME TO SELL ME SOMETHING I'M NOT BUYING, AND BY THE WAY IF YOU CALL AT LEAST BE A REAL PERSON PERSON NOT A MACHINE. IF YOU CALL AFTER 8:OO PM SCREW YOU, QUIT CALLING ME!

They're just doing their job. The individual telemarketers don't choose the times they have to call - their supervisors do. Everyone has to make a living. Put yourself in their shoes.

That is why you get caller ID, then you know who is calling.I laugh when they call because when they say hello, I say goodbye and hang up.
