my boyfriend said he is going through reconstruction... i think it may be about "us". what does it mean?

i've tried calling him and he isnt answering the phone, but the answering machine is saying "im not able to talk right now because im going through reconstruction." he sounds sad while saying this.

Reconstruction in historical terms refers to the period after the Civil War in America when the southern states were reorganized and reintegrated into the Union; 1865-1877.
The word means mending or repairing, rebuilding or a makeover. I'm not sure what your boyfriend means by it...perhaps you would know better than an outsider. Is he doing something differently; taking up hobbies; changing his outlook on life or on your relationship?
Anyway, the above is the historic meaning and the definition of the word. I hope that helps you to figure out what he means. BTW: why don't you just ask him exactly what he means...even if you, perhaps, don't really want to know!

I'd say it sounds like it's less about you and more about him...like he's going through a bad period in his life and is trying to fix something or change something. If you are a praying person, I'd suggest that now is the time to pray for him BIG TIME. You could also call him and leave a message of encouragement; one that lets him know that you are there for him if he needs you and are willing to help if possible. I wouldn't leave multiple messages, however, because he doesn't seem to want to be bothered by anyone (1 message should be enough). I truly hope it all works out well for you and your boyfriend! Here's hoping for the best...
