My school play is coming up and I'm going to audition. What would be the best song choice?

Well, that depends on what show you're auditioning for, what part you want and what your range is??? Without that info no one can really make good suggestions. I can tell you NOT to sing a song from the show unless specifically asked to do so and do NOT sing from Wicked, Les Mis, Phantom of the Opera or any other musical that is overdone or currently on Broadway or on tour.

The reason you never sing from the show unless asked to is because they may have a specific idea on how the role should be done and if you don't nail that vision in the audition then you do not have a chance. Usually you sing a different song, something that shows off your voice and gives off the same vibe as the character that you want, maybe even from the same composer.

At school musical auditions, they will give you a song to sing. However, books you can get on amazon.com [search musical theatre] will help. Also, www.musicaltheatreaudition.com is a great resource for songs.

Hope that helps.
