technically speaking, the easter bunny and easter eggs have nothing to do with Christian celebrations of the Lord's Resurrection. Christian Easter celebrations are most closely linked to the Jewish Passover, which in Hebrew is Pasach. The Last Supper of Jesus was a celebration of the Jewish Passover meal, and thus Christians, and most specifically Catholics, refer to the Crucifixion, Death, and Resurrection of Jesus as the "Pascal" Mystery. In Spanish speaking countries Easter is known as "Pascuas."

Easter is in reference to the Anglo-Saxon Goddess (Easter in English, Ostern in German) of the Dawn (thus, of spring, as in the dawn of the year). This Pagan celebration coincided with the Christian celebration of the Pascal Mystery. Thus, in Western Europe, pagan converts to Christianity maintained certain rituals of the pagan Easter celebration, including the name, which is why English speaking countries refer to the Pascal Mystery as Easter, and other countries retain the original Hebrew root word, for example Spanish and Pascuas.

English christian colonists brought with them the pagan Easter traditions to the USA, which is why Easter Egg Hunts and the Easter Bunny is popular here. My late wife, who was from South America, was totally unfamliar with pagan Easter traditions.

Well the holiday you are describing is very pagan in nature. Jews nor early christians celebrated Easter, none the less pagan practices of fertility involving Eggs and Rabbits. Those were incorporated by the Romans as a way to get the church and Government on the same page. Much like the Roman winter festival and festival of lights that were merged in the Christmas holiday. Jews Celebrated and still Passover. It is the sacrifice that CHrist provided, dieing for all of our sins that serve as a memorial. The risen King was in fact always King and appointed and annointed by GOD

Not all of us Celebrate Easter with the Easter bunny. The reason we celebrate is Christ's Resurrection.

Any Christian religion is going to celebrate Easter. Easter is the celebration and remembrance of Jesus's Resurrection.
Ya know when he come rose from his tomb on the third day after his Crucifixion and death on Calvary.

I have no clue why we use a bunny or eggs. I'm assuming it's just another gimmick to turn another holiday into a fiasco.....like Santa taking the place of Jesus............it's really sad.

Jesus "Christ" is known as the founder of "Christianity". Christmas is a Christian holiday that commemorates the birth of Jesus. At Easter, Christians celebrate their belief that Jesus came back to life after his death (called "resurrection").

"The Passion of the Christ" refers to Jesus' final hours of torture and execution on the cross. Read this "crucifixion" story from an ancient biographer . Christians recognize Jesus as God, and the cross as God suffering a penalty on behalf of humans. Christians believe therefore that God no longer needs to punish (can forgive) humans for their wrong doing (sin).

Many people throughout the world have been prompted to ask questions about the life, death, and message of Jesus. Here's what you can investigate further at Jesus Institute, an educational resource about the person of Jesus:

The Easter Bunny is a rabbit character who brings gifts and candy to children on the Easter holiday, an example of folklore mythology. Similarly prominent characters are Santa Claus and the Tooth Fairy.

In Greece The egg is a symbol of renewal of life and the color red is used to represent the blood of Christ.
Somewhere along the way Christan and pagan customs were intertwined and most of the customs are just for the fun of it and ,have little religious meaning as far as I am concerned.

colored eggs and bunnys are just for little kids. it's lke santa on chirsitmas. people focus on that instead of focusing on the true meaning of chirstmas and easter.

easter- the day jesus was ressurected
christmas-jesus birthday

so it's all chritian. but all those symbols really don't mean anything good, or bad in my opinion. but they do sometimes make you forget the real meaning of both holidays
