Yes, check out the individual members of Mahavishnu Orchestra - many of them recorded separately: Chick Corea, Al DiMeola, Stanley Clarke, and Larry Coryell all had ties to the group. Also check out Santana - their fourth album, Caravanseri, has a fine aesthetic effect, and Carlos Santana also recorded some interesting work on his own with Alice Coltrane on harp (Illuminations), as well as John McLaughlin (Love, Devotion and Surrender).
