I'm italian and didn't know that Memphis is so dangerous even during the day. Thank you so much for your advise.

Downtown is not a bad area to be, however I would not walk to Graceland. It really is not that far and a cab will not cost you that much. Some hotels also offer shuttles to Graceland so you might want to check that out. The area around Graceland is not a good part of town. Don't be scared to go Graceland and its facilities are wonderful and you are VERY safe there! They have a cab/shuttle/bus pick up right on there lot, so you do not have to wait on the street. There is not much around Graceland the area is depressed and not well maintained. Please just spend the little amount of money on a cab and be safe. You will have a great time there, we visit Memphis a lot and as long as you are smart, and safe you will not have an issue. We walk around downtown, and by the river and we have never had any issues. Quite frankly I wouldn't walk 2 blocks in Memphis.
