Do colleges really want to see that you did extra activities in school and after. Even if you have amazing grades. Like if I applied to a good college ivy leage what ever and I had straight A's and never did sports or anything after school would they still accept me or does the after school stuff really help a lot. If I had decend grades not amazing and I did a lot of sports like basketball and baseball, some after school clubs, community service, and in school activities like filming for sports game would that help out a lot. Basicly what I am asking is that are the sports, after school clubs and community service really important to my college application?

believe it or not, harvard rejects 50% of applicants WITH perfect SATs and 4.0 gpas. i know, crazy. but the things that distinguish those admitted and those rejected include involvement/volunteer work/personality/characteristics, etc, because tons of people have the brains to get in, along with the grades to prove it. they like admitting students of all different backgrounds and interests, not just the smartest ones.

yes they are, very.
because let's say you have the same GPA as the other kid, but you have all the extracurricular activities then the admission office will have that in mind. it's very helpful to have these and sometimes it determines your entrance, because the colleges want someone who will benefit their school
