Rockport makes a lot of really comfortable shoes for being on your feet that aren't tennis shoes.
Also, I can think of Adidas and K-Swiss shoes that are designed such that they don't look like tennis shoes, but use the same design and comfort. I have a pair of brown K-Swiss shoes that I wear in my office and they pass for "work shoes".

earth shoes and not the ones from payless, you need the real deal they are a little bit more spendy (like $100+) but they total save your feet and back, i'm an esthetician so i'm always on my feet and after getting my earth shoes i could sooo see a difference my back and feet weren't hurting any more, the cosmo girls like the earth shoes too but some perfer dansko's. earth shoes take a while to get use to but they are so light weight and comfy that you'll never go back to tennis shoes for work, they're also really cute !

I can't tell from your avatar whether you're male or female.
If you're male, get a pair of Rockports from L.L. Bean [link is below]. They are THE most comfortable pair of dress shoes I've ever owned, and extremely well made. I took them recently to San Francisco; I did a lot of walking there, and my feet held up very well by wearing these shoes.
Bar none, the best $90 I have ever spent. After six months, they still look new.

I'd say Ecko Unlimited. Love mine. Timberland also makes comfortable shoes. Not the boots or shoe boots, but shoes.

My son manages a restaurant and is on his feet all the time. He swears by anything made by Morrell. Sierra has a site where they have their shoes and they frequently have sales. He has too many pairs of shoes to count.

I would say crocs or jimmy choo flip flops. But jimmy choo is expensive, so maybe nike flip flops, they are really nice. At brookstone I have seen tempur pedic shoes!! They just slide on and off. I tried them on and they were HEAVENLY. And like, $30- $50! I think that is the best bang for the buck!!
