I use to ride the Cota bus with my mom to go shopping, but I would never get on one today, not safe.
My sister went out to Arizona about 20 yrs ago on the Greyhound bus, she said she had fun.
My neice ran away many years ago on the Greyhound bus and made it to about 3 states away, then came back.

I occasionally did weekend runs from DC-NYC and back via Greyhound. It really made sense. Cheap ride, no worries about parking, etc.
Granted, some of my fellow passengers were a bit...sketchy, shall we say. But it was okay.

I rode one home from college in the early 90's. It wasn't my first time but it was my last. I rode it by myself late at night and a huge guy with terrible B.O. almost sat with me. A wonderful mom from Egypt sat with me and her little two year old played with me all the way home. The family had brought dinner with them and even shared cake with me. But, after that, I just didn't want to ride alone. The thought of sharing a seat with a strange guy kinda spooked me. Looking back the guy was probably just tired and hot and unusual looking but, I wasn't even out of my teens then.

Livermore,CA to Seattle,WA,with a stop-over in Portland. Not a bad ride, nice people, great scenery. Mostly students after we stopped at Springfield,Oregon. But the whole passenger line up got hipper as we got closer to Seattle.
