Hey, can Gabrielle or Gabriella have the nickname Abby/Abbie? I love Gabriella/Gabrielle and HATE Abigail/Abagail but love Abby/Abbie and hate Gabby/Gabi... so wondering if Abby could be a nickname for Gabrielle or not?

Of course Abby/Abbie can be a nickname for Gabrielle/Gabriella. Nicknames are a personal choice that you can make based off your preferences and your child's personality. Abby is a wonderful name.

I absolutely agree. I hate Gabby and Abigail just sounds old to me. No offense to anyone with those names. Abby works beatifully for Gabrielle. Or Ella for Gabriella or even Bella or Ellie. Hope that helps.

I guess a girl named Gabrielle/Gabriella could have the nickname Abby. I have a friend named Gabrielle and I call her Gabriella-bella, Gabs and Gabsta. :) You could also call her Bri, Brielle, Elle...

A nickname can be anything so Abby is fine (and very cute).
Other nicknames you can you are Elle, Ella, Ellie, Brielle, Brie

Of course, you can nickname anything you want! I quite like Ella for Gabriella myself, but totally agree with you that Gabby isn't so nice. You just request that people don't call her that.

Well, yes, you can name your daughter Gabriella and call her whatever you want...."Pumpkin" if that floats your boat.
but don't name your child something that you hate the shortened version of it, b/c ppl have their own ideas and they might call your child Gabby (which I hate as well, btw) no matter how many times you correct them.
There's nothing wrong w/ naming your child Abby...that's much simpler

Sure! A nickname can be whatever you want it to be. I knew a kid in middle school whose name was Tim, but asked everyone to call him Sam. I have no clue why.
Ella/ Ellie could also work as nicknames too.

Yeah it could work. Have you thought of Brie, Brielle, Briella, Ella, Ellie, or Gigi? I do think most people would assume her first name was Abigail though.
