Hey guys. I am having problem with my algebra worksheet.

Take a look at the picture below. Just copy and past that into your adress bar. The directions state "sunokuft tgese terns by splitting the squares.

For the first person to explain to me how to do those equations in a way a 14 year old would understand will get best answer. 10 pts.

I'll give you a generic idea.... you'll take it from there.

Let say you have sqrt(121r^2). You'll first notice, what's inside the square root is 121r^2. You'll then notice, 121 is 11^2, so it is really 11^2*r^2.

First, you know you can take 11^2 outside because if you take a square root of what is sqared, you'll go back to the original number.

Now you have 11*sqrt(r^2)

Now, you also know, taking square root of r^2 will result in just "r", so you take it outside.

you'll end up with 11r

You can verify this to be correct because if you square 11r, you get 121r^2

This process applies to all of your problems. As you get more used to the process, there are obvious shortcuts.

Remember this property of square root:
sqrt(9) = sqrt (3) * sqrt (3)
sqrt(20) = sqrt (4) * sqrt (5) = 2*sqrt(5)

The first one for example: sqrt(144b^2)
144 can be written as 9*16
so sqrt(144) = sqrt (9) * sqrt (16) = 3*4 =12
then the solution for this question is 12b

Another example: sqrt (20 e^2 m^2)
20 can be written as 4*5
than sqrt (20) = sqrt(4) * sqrt(5) = 2*sqrt(5)
then the solution for this question is
2*sqrt(5)*e*m

Note: sqrt= square root

1.12b cuz bxb = bsquared
12x12=144
2.6x
same reason as first
3.9ms
same as first
4.2em
and under the square root 5
5 x 4 = 20
5. square of 54 and square of 4
simplifies into square of 3 and 18
then square of 9 and 2
which becomes 6square6
6. 3ysquare2x
cuz square of 18 becomes square of 9 and 2 which simplifies to 3 square 2

use prime factors

144 = 2^4*3^2

sqrt (144 b^2) = sqrt (2^4 *3^2 * b^2) = 2^2*3*b = 4*3*b = 12b

b) 36 = 6*6 =6^2
sqrt(36x^2)=6x

c) 9ms

d) 20 = 2^2*5
sqrt(5)*2em

e)216= 2^3*3^3 = 2*2^2*3*3^2
sqrt(2*3*t*v)*2*3 = 6*sqrt (6tv)

f) 18 = 2*3^2

3y*sqrt(2x)
