Take 584 divide by 1.25 yields $467.20.

As confirmation, 467.2 x 1.25 = 584.

I'm in business, doing markups every day.

Let C = dealer's cost

You pay dealer's cost plus the markup

C + .25C = 584

1.25C = 584

C = 584/1.25 = 467.20

okay.
set up a proportion.
x over 584 equals 25 over 100.
cross multiply.
then you should get a number amount for x.
take that amount and ADD it to the original selling price

$548 x .25 = $146 (25% of $548)
$548 - $146 = $438 (Dealer's cost)

Check: $438 + $146 =$584.00
